Team Size

  1. The maximum number of players permitted to take the field is five (5) must always include at least 2 women on the court.
  2. The minimum number of players that can be fielded without incurring a forfeit is four (4).

Match Duration

  1. Each match will be 2 x 18-minute halves-(2-minute half time and 2-minute changeover of games). Where a game commences late, the referee may reduce the time of each half to ensure fixtures finish on time.
  2. In the event of a match ending in a draw, this result will stand. No extra time or any other method will be employed to resolve the draw unless in a final.
  3. All matches must finish at the designated finish time. There is no stoppage time. e.g. if a game starts late the length of the game is reduced and must finish on time.

Game Rules

  • All kick offs are to be taken from the halfway line (at start of play and after goals are scored).
  • From a kick off, the ball must be played forward. A goal CANNOT be scored directly from kick off.
  • No tackling from behind or slide tackling is allowed.
  • Dangerous play is not allowed.
  • All teams must be registered to the competition to take the court.
  • Unlimited substitutions allowed, players can re-enter game without notifying referee. No time is held for substitutions (including goal keeper substitutions)
  • The is NO offside in futsal, and players can score from anywhere inside the court of play.
  • When the ball goes out over the sideline, it is then placed on the sideline; it must be stationary to be kicked into the court to a player. All opposing players must be at least 3 meters from the ball, the foot not kicking the ball must be OUT of the court.
  • A goal cannot be scored from a side-line kick in, but can be scored off a corner kick-in.
  • The goalkeeper cannot throw the ball over the 2/3 line on the court, only goalkeepers use their hands to handle the ball, they must throw the ball back into play, however id the goalkeepers does not handle the ball with their hands, they are free to kick the ball any length and even score.
  • The goalkeeper is not allowed to drop-kick the ball at any time.
  • Goal clearance, the goalkeeper throws the ball from the marked goal area to restart play after the ball goes over the goal line, last being touched by an attacking player.
  • The goalkeeper has 5 seconds time limit to control the ball and release it from their possession in their own half of the court.
  • Goalkeepers are not allowed to pick up the ball with their hands from a deliberate back pass from any of their team makes.
  • The game has a 5 second time limit in all kick-ins, corner kicks, and free kicks.
  • Free kicks, the opposition must be back 3 meters from the taking of any free kicks, unless the team awarded the free kick decides to take a quick free kick.
  • Hand ball is when a ball touches a player from the shoulder down (not including the shoulder). A deliberate handball will be given with a direct free kick/penalty to the opposition. An accidental hand ball will be awarded as an indirect free kick to the opposition.
  • Each team has 5 team fouls per half, any fouls after the 5th will be penalised with a penalty shot to the opposition.

Interchanges

  • Unlimited interchange is allowed, and play does not stop for substitutions.
  • The substituted player must leave the field before the substitute enters

Points System

  • Win – 5 points
  • Score draw – 3 points
  • Scoreless draw – 2 points
  • Loss – 1 point
  • Forfeit – 0 points

Forfeit

  • Each team must have a minimum of four (4) players before they can take the field. Players should be warmed up and ready to play at the exact scheduled time.
  • Teams that forfeit after 12pm on the day of their scheduled game will be charged a $50 late forfeit fee. This fee must be paid before the team can return to the competition.

Jewellery & accessories

  • Players are not permitted to use objects that might endanger them or others, including any kind of accessories, jewellery and glasses.

Caution Card

  • Yellow and red cards will be issued in line with SportUNE Futsal Rules.
  • All red card disciplinary matters will be handled by SportUNE.
  • Yellow & Red Cards do not need to be issued for disciplinary action to still be taken by SportUNE if deemed necessary.
  • Parents or guardians will be notified if any player aged 16 or under receives a yellow or red card.

Player Infringements

Serious foul play: the following offences will receive either a yellow or red card depending on the severity of the infringement (referee’s discretions).

  • Stopping an obvious goal scoring opportunity by tripping, holding, impeding, or handball.
  • Deliberate kicking or elbowing an opponent.
  • Violent tackle from behind.
  • Over the ball tackle.
  • Dangerous slide tackle.

Serious Violent Conduct: The following offences will result in removal from current game and potentially competition/SportUNE facilities.

  • Striking an official or player
  • Spitting at an official or player
  • Threaten an official or player with ball or other object.
  • Pushing an official in any way.

Use of Foul and Abusive Language: the following are cautionable offences with a yellow or red card depending on severity of the infringement.

  • Making obscene gestures
  • Offensive insults or abusive language.

CODE OF CONDUCT – FUTSAL COMPETITION

INTRODUCTION
The SportUNE Futsal Competition Code of Conduct provides a set of principles and expectations for all participants to create a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment. By following this Code of Conduct, participants contribute to the positive culture of the competition and help maintain the integrity of the game. All participants are required to abide by the Code of Conduct to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES
As a participant in the SportUNE Futsal Competition, you are expected to:
– Show respect for all players, opponents, and spectators.
– Demonstrate good sportsmanship by playing fairly, following the rules, and encouraging positive competition.
– Respect the official’s calls and respond in a sportsmanlike manner.
– Respect diversity and inclusion by treating everyone with dignity, regardless of gender, ability, background, or beliefs.
– Avoid foul or aggressive behaviour, including excessive arguing, physical altercations, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
– Refrain from using offensive language or engaging in verbal abuse towards others.
– Care for the playing environment, including courts, goals, nets, and equipment.
– Refrain from using performance-enhancing, alcohol or illegal substances.
– Follow all safety guidelines to prevent injury and ensure fair play.

ON-COURT BEHAVIOUR
By participating in the SportUNE Futsal Competition, you agree to:
– Play with integrity and respect the spirit of the game.
– Respect official’s calls
– Avoid unnecessary delays, time-wasting, or gamesmanship.
– Shake hands or acknowledge opponents at the end of a match.
– Avoid intentional distractions, excessive celebrations, or any form of taunting.
– Accept both victory and defeat with grace.

CONSEQUENCES OF MISCONDUCT
Breaches of the SportUNE Futsal Competition Code of Conduct may result in:
– Warnings or cautions from SportUNE staff.
– Temporary or permanent suspension from matches or the competition.
– Forfeiture of matches or competition points.
– Further disciplinary action by SportUNE.

By playing in the SportUNE Futsal Competition, all participants agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and accept any consequences resulting from violations.

Incident Reporting

All injuries, incidents, and near misses related to Futsal Competition fall under SportUNE competitions.

All incidents must be reported within 72 hours of occurrence.
