What is MBPT?

MBPT provides every on-campus student with the opportunity to take part in a free, diverse and inclusive intercollege competition. Students represent their college – St Albert’s, Robb, Austin Page, Mary White, Duval, Wright or Townies – and earn points across the academic year. The college with the highest total is awarded the MBPT trophy at the annual Sports Awards.

MBPT events are designed to:

  • Bring the entire residential community together
  • Encourage physical activity, social connection and friendly competition
  • Showcase UNE sports clubs and participation pathways
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment for all students.

How the Competition Works

Scoring

Each individual sporting match or game within an event is scored as follows:

  • Win = 3 points
  • Draw = 2 points
  • Loss = 1 point

For mass participation events (swimming carnival & Hodson Relay) colleges also earn 1 point per participant who completes the required activity.

Once all match points and mass participation points are totalled, the overall event standings are determined. Trophy points are then awarded based on final placings:

  • 1st = 7 points
  • 2nd = 6 points
  • 3rd = 5 points
  • 4th = 4 points
  • 5th = 3 points
  • 6th = 2 points
  • 7th = 1 point

The trophy points contribute to the year-long MBPT leaderboard, ultimately deciding the winning college at the Sports Awards
