Twilight soccer is a fast-paced and exciting sport that has gained a large following in recent years. This game provides an opportunity for students and community members of all ages and skill levels to come together and engage in a competitive yet fun activity.

One of the great things about twilight soccer is its community-driven approach. The sport attracts a diverse range of people, including students, families, and individuals who are passionate about the game.

It’s an excellent way to meet new people, form friendships, and enjoy a fun and challenging sport.

The competitive nature of twilight soccer also adds to the excitement of the game. Players of all skill levels can participate, and the games are played at a high level, creating a challenging yet enjoyable environment. It’s an opportunity to test your skills, improve your game, and work towards a common goal as part of a team.

SportUNE Twilight Soccer Rules

The rules for Twilight Soccer will be as pertaining to the following Rules:

Team size

  1. The maximum number of players permitted to take the field is seven (7) mixed must always include at least 3 women on the field.
  2. The minimum number of players that can be fielded without incurring a forfeit is four (4).
  3. The maximum registered players for any team are twelve (12).

Shin pads & jewellery

All players MUST wear shin pads that adequately cover the shin. No player may enter the field without shin pads. All Jewellery must be removed before taking the field.

Match duration

  1. Each match will be 2 x 25-minute halves-(5-minute half time and 5-minute changeover of games). Where a game commences late, the referee may reduce the time of each half by up to 5 minutes to ensure fixtures finish on time.
  2. In the event of a match ending in a draw, this result will stand. No extra time or any other method will be employed to resolve the draw unless in a final.
  3. All matches should commence within 5 minutes of the designated starting time. There is no stoppage time.
  4. All matches must finish at the designated finish time. There is no stoppage time. e.g. if a game starts late the length of the game is reduced and must finish on time.

Game rules

  • All kick offs to be taken from the halfway line (start of play and after goals scored).
  • No sliding tackles are permitted.  Players must be on both feet to make a tackle or an indirect free kick will be awarded.
  • A player (other than the goalkeeper) who deliberately handles the ball to prevent a goal will concede a ‘penalty’ and shall be cautioned.
  • ‘Penalty’ kicks for goal are taken from directly in front of goal –12 yards out.
  • Kick outs from the goal line – opposition players cannot enter the goal circle until the ball has cleared the circle or has been touched by another player (other than the original kicker). All goal kicks should be taken within a metre of the goal line and within the goal circle.
  • A goal cannot be scored directly from a sideline ‘kick-in’.
  • No offside rules apply.
  • All teams must have a designated goalkeeper who may only handle the ball inside the goal circle.

TWILIGHT RULES 2023

Interchanges

Unlimited interchange – play does not stop for an interchange to take place. Interchanges to take place from halfway during a stoppage of play. The player substituted must leave the field before the substitute takes the field.

Points System

  • Win – 5 points
  • Score draw – 3 points
  • Scoreless draw – 2 points
  • Loss – 1 point
  • Forfeit – 0 points

Forfeit rules

Each team must have a minimum of four (4) players before they can take the field. Players should be warmed up and ready to play at the exact scheduled time.

If a team is not able to take the field after five (5) minutes, one goal will be scored against them for every 2 minutes thereafter and up to 3 goals.

If a team is still not able to field a team 11 minutes after the scheduled starting time they will be forfeited.

Forfeit Score:  5-0

Cards

Yellow and Red cards will be issued in accordance with FFA regulations.

All red card disciplinary matters will be dealt with by SportUNE.

Parents and/or guardian will be notified if any player 16 years and under receives a Yellow and/or Red card.

Juniors: $500 per team (Max 12 Players)

Seniors: $650 per team (Max 12 Players)

Refunds

No refunds will be issued after the competition starts, unless exceptional circumstances apply, and approval is given by the competition Administrator.

Who can join the competition?

SportUNE Twilight Soccer Competition is a community competition, and we welcome anyone to register.

Caution card information

Red and yellow card or send off offences are decided by the match referee and fall under our code of conduct.

Incident Report

All injury/incidents/near misses relating the SportUNE Twilight Soccer falls under the Football League competitions.

Incidents MUST be completed within 72 hours of the incident occurring.

 

COMPLETE INCIDENT REPORT

Match Official Send-Off Expulsion Report

If a send-off occours in any game a Match Official Send-Off Expulsion Report must be completed and returned to SportUNE Football League for governance.
