• Junior Competitions:

  1. A team representative must first nominate the team.

  2. Once nominated, a team code will be provided.

  3. Each player then uses that team code to complete their individual registration.

• The maximum number of players permitted to take the field is seven (7) mixed must always have at least three (3) women on the field.
• A Minimum of four (4) players are required to avoid a forfeit.
• Players must be at least 16 years old to participate in the open divisions (Women’s, Men’s or Mixed). Special consideration may be given to younger players of a high standard, provided a waiver is completed prior to taking the field.

• Each match will consist of two 25-minute halves, with a 5-minute half-time and a 5-minute changeover between games. If a match starts late, the referee will reduce the length of each half to ensure the fixture finishes on time.
• In the event of a draw, the result will stand. No extra time or alternative methods will be used to determine a winner.
• All matches must commence within 5 minutes of the scheduled starting time. There will be no stoppage time.

• All kick offs must be taken from the halfway line (at the start of play and after a goal is scored).
• A goal can be scored directly from a kick-off at the halfway line.
• Sliding tackles are not permitted. Players must be on both feet to make a tackle; otherwise, an indirect free kick will be awarded.
• A player (excluding the goalkeeper) who deliberately handles the ball to prevent a goal will concede a penalty and be cautioned.
• Penalty kicks are taken from 12 yards directly in front of the goal.
• For kick-outs from the goal line, opposition players cannot enter the goal circle until the ball has cleared the circle or been touched by another player (other than the original kicker)
• All goal kicks must be taken within the goal circle/box.
• A goal cannot be scored directly from a sideline ‘kick-in’.
• The offside rule does not apply.

• Unlimited interchanges are allowed, and play does not need to stop for substitutions to occur.
• Interchanges must take place from the halfway line during stoppage in play.
• The player substituted must leave the field before the substitute takes the field.

• Win: 5 points
• Score Draw: 3 points
• Scoreless Draw: 2 points
• Loss: 1 point
• Bye: 5 points – 5-0 win
• Forfeit: 0 points – 5-0 loss

• A team must have a minimum of four (4) players to take the field.
• Players must be ready to start the game at the exact scheduled time.
• If a team is unable to take the field within five (5) minutes of the scheduled start time, one goal will be awarded to the opposing team for every 2 minutes, up to a maximum of 3 goals. If the team still cannot field enough players after this period, they will forfeit the match.
• Teams that forfeit after 12pm on the day of their scheduled game will be charged a $50 late forfeit fee. This fee must be paid before the team can return to the competition.

• All players MUST wear shin pads that adequately cover the shin. No player may enter the field without shin pads.
• All players MUST remove ALL jewellery before taking the field.
• Players who choose to play without shin pads do so at their own risk. SportUNE, referees, and opposing teams accept no liability for any resulting injuries, and players may not be eligible to make insurance claims if injured while not wearing mandated protective gear.

• Yellow and red cards will be issued in accordance with IFAB regulations.
• All red card disciplinary matters will be dealt with by SportUNE. If a player aged 16 years or younger receives a yellow or red card, their parents and/or guardians will be notified.
• Yellow & Red Cards do not need to be issued for disciplinary action to still be taken by SportUNE if deemed necessary.

All injuries, incidents, and near misses related to SportUNE Twilight Soccer fall under SportUNE competitions.

All incidents must be reported within 72 hours of occurrence.

INTRODUCTION
The SportUNE Twilight Soccer Competition Code of Conduct provides a set of principles and actions that all participants and community can follow. This code of conduct is to assist in creating a safe and positive environment for everyone involved.
If you are a player, parent, coach, match official, spectator, or official, you have the ability to set the standards of behaviour that will assist in creating better people and communities through the Twilight Soccer Competition this will allow our great game to grow.
By adopting this and ensuring your actions reflect the code, you will ensure Twilight Soccer Competition will continue to be a positive experience for all participants.
All participants are required to abide by the Code of Conduct. This will ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience with and at our Soccer matches.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES
Participants of the Twilight Soccer Competition include:
Players, Coaches, Sports Trainers and Officers, Match Officials, Club Officials, Volunteers, Parents/Carers, SportUNE & UNE Life staff and Spectators.
Participants are encouraged and expected to:
• Be good sports people, discouraging all instances of foul or illegal play, or acts of violence, both on and off the field.
• Demonstrate the utmost level of respect, protecting and supporting the rights, dignity, and worth of everyone regardless of their gender, ability/disability, sexual orientation, cultural background, or religion.
• Lead by example. By condemning the use of recreational and performance-enhancing drugs and doping practices
• Celebrate the “good news” stories, and understand that cyber-bullying, which includes negative or demeaning comments, status posts, personal messages or emails, is a serious form of harassment.
• Accept that the integrity of the sport is of paramount importance, meaning, no coach, player, Club or match official is allowed to participate, or be directly or indirectly involved in any way, in gambling in relation to the matches/competitions in which they are involved or directly linked with.
By adhering to the SportUNE Twilight Soccer Competition Code of Conduct you will:
• Be a good sport. Respect all good play whether from your team or the opposition. This can include shaking hands with, and thanking, the opposition players and officials after the game – win, lose or draw.
• Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit.
• Always respect the Referee’s decision.
• Never become involved in acts of foul play.
• Honour both the spirit and letter of the competition rules and live up to the highest ideals of ethics and sportsmanship; avoid gamesmanship and respect the traditions of the game.
• Never engage in disrespectful conduct of any sort. This includes the use of profanity, sledging, obscene gestures, offensive remarks, trash-talking, taunting, or other actions that are demeaning to other players, officials, or supporters.
• Care for and respect the facilities and equipment made available to you during training and competition.
• Do not use any illegal or unhealthy substances.
• Recognise and respect that many Officials, Coaches and Referees are Volunteers give up their time to provide their services and support the game.
• Do not bet or otherwise financially speculate, directly or indirectly, on the outcome or any other aspect of a Soccer match or competition in which you are involved.
CODE OF CONDUCT | COACH
• Always consider the health, safety, and welfare of the players.
• Actively discourage foul play and/or unsportsmanlike behaviour by players.
• Seek to maximise the participation and enjoyment of all players regardless of ability; avoid the tendency to over-use a talented player; treat all players as equals, regardless of their talent.
• Show concern and caution towards all sick and injured players. Follow the advice of a physician and/or sports trainer to the letter when determining when an injured player is ready to recommence training or playing.
• Teach players that an honest effort and competing to the best of their ability is as important as victory.
• Maintain appropriate, professional relationships with players always.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Laws of the Game and keep abreast of current coaching methods; maintain or improve your current accreditation level.
• Teach young players to realise that there is a big gap between their play and the professional game; do not coach them as if they are professionals.
• Ensure that your coaching reflects the level of the competition being played; do not be a “win-at-all-cost” coach.
• As coach, conduct yourself at all times in a manner, and in all situations, that shows leadership, respect for the game of Soccer and respect for all those that are involved in the game – the players, officials, the fans, the parents, the referees and the media.
• Remember that junior players participate for pleasure and mateship. Your coaching should create a positive environment that is fun, safe, and inclusive
CODE OF CONDUCT | MATCH OFFICIALS
• Place the safety and welfare of the players above all else; be alert to minimise dangerous physical play, fair or foul, especially in junior matches.
• Accept responsibility for all actions taken.
• Avoid any form of verbal contact with coaches, team officials, parents, and spectators during play.
• Be impartial also, be consistent, objective, and courteous.
• Avoid any situation which may lead to a conflict of interest, both on and off the field.
• Maintain an appropriate level of fitness for the standard of game at which you are officiating.
• Condemn all and every instance of unsportsmanlike, foul, or unfair play.
• Set a good example by the way you dress, speak and act towards players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators.
• Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players.
• Officiate to the age and/or experience of the players.
CODE OF CONDUCT – TEAM & CLUB OFFICIALS
• Always uphold the integrity of the game of Soccer.
• Always act in a sportsmanlike manner, respecting opposition players, team and club officials and spectators.
• Make decisions in the best interests of the game of Soccer.
• Place the safety and welfare of players as the top priority.
• Accept responsibility for all decisions made.
CODE OF CONDUCT | PARENT/SPECTATOR
• Condemn all violent or illegal acts, whether they are by players, coaches, officials, parents, or spectators.
• Respect the Referee’s decisions – do not complain or argue about decisions during or after a game.
• Always behave. Unsportsmanlike language, harassment or aggressive behaviour will
not be tolerated.
• Encourage players to play by the rules and to respect opposition players and officials.
• Never ridicule or scorn a player for making a mistake – respect their efforts.
• Understand that sport is part of a total life experience, and the benefits of involvement go far beyond the final score of a game.
• Participate in positive cheering that encourages the players in the team you are supporting; do not engage in any cheering that taunts or intimidates opponents, their fans, or officials.
• Remember that all participants are involved in the game of Soccer for their own enjoyment.
• Always follow the directions of the Ground Manager and/or other duty officials
• Never arrive at a Junior match under the influence of alcohol, never bring alcohol to a Junior match.
CODE OF CONDUCT | SUMMARY OF OFFENCES
NOTE – Teams are responsible for the conduct of their players, parents/carers of players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
No person(s) attending a match, function, or team related event or activity shall:
• Use offensive or obscene language to any participant.
• Excessively dispute the decision of a Referee or Official either during or after a match.
• Assault, or act with aggression, to any person/s.
• Behave in a way contrary to the Code of Conduct and/or the spirit of the game.
• Behave in a way which disturbs the enjoyment of a match, function, activity, or event by any person(s), or brings discredit to any team, league or the game.
• Act in such a way as to exhibit racial intolerance, by language or other conduct, to any person(s)
• Refuse to accept the reasonable direction of the official of the game or SportUNE & UNE Life Staff.
• No person/s may make comment or take actions that bring discredit to any person, team, official or SportUNE or UNE Life through any social media outlet.
• Teams are responsible for the conduct of their players, parents/carers of players, coaches, officials, and team supporters.

Breaches of the SportUNE Twilight Soccer Competition Code of Conduct may result in penalties, including but not limited to:
• Suspension of a match and/or
• Termination of a match (including potential forfeiture of competition points) and/or
• Monetary fines and/or
• Suspension of a participant on a temporary or permanent basis and/or
• Suspension of a team on a temporary or permanent basis.
These penalties are in addition to any penalty which may be imposed by the relevant governing League bodies i.e. SportUNE or UNE Life.

Warning

Twilight Soccer involves physical activity and carries inherent risks, including the potential for injury. Participants should be aware that accidents can occur. By taking part, individuals acknowledge and accept the personal risks associated with participation in Twilight Soccer.

Exclusion of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the University of New England and SportUNE (including their directors, officers, employees, agents, and contractors) accept no responsibility or liability for any injury, loss, or damage (whether fatal or otherwise) arising from participation in Twilight Soccer, except where caused by gross negligence or otherwise required by law under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or related legislation.

Release and Indemnity

By participating in Twilight Soccer, individuals release and discharge the University of New England and SportUNE from any claims, demands, or actions arising from or in connection with their participation, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law. Participants also agree to indemnify SportUNE against any loss or expense arising from their own acts or omissions during the competition, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
