Sporting Clubs at SportUNE

Find your people. Find your sport.

Joining a SportUNE Sport club is one of the easiest ways to meet new people, stay active and build skills that actually matter in the real world. Whether you’re a student living on or off campus, or a member of the wider Armidale community, our clubs are open to everyone.

SportUNE clubs are run by students, for students, and they are the heartbeat of our campus sporting community.

Why join a Sport Club?

1. Make friends & find your community

Clubs are one of the best places to meet people outside of your classes. You’ll connect with students who share your interests, whether that’s netball, volleyball, rugby union, rowing, outdoor adventures or anything in between.

2. Build real-world skills

Getting involved, especially as a committee member, gives you hands-on experience that employers love. You’ll develop skills in:

  • Communication
  • Leadership & Coordination
  • Teamwork
  • Organisation
  • Event planning
  • Problem-solving
  • Confidence & Resilience

These are the kinds of skills that genuinely help you stand out after graduation.

3. Learn the technical side of running a club

If you step into a committee role, you’ll learn practical skills like:

  • Budgeting
  • Running meetings and taking minutes
  • Managing memberships
  • Reporting and compliance
  • Planning training sessions, events or competitions.

You involvement becomes real world experience you can put straight onto your resume.

4. Have fun, stay active & get involved on campus

SportUNE sport clubs offer a balance of fun, fitness and community, whether you’re hear for friendly games, competitive teams, or social training sessions.

Leadership Opportunities

Many students choose to get involved beyond participation by joining a club committee. You might step up into roles like:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Events Coordinator
  • Social Media Manager
  • Coach or Team manager

These roles give you genuine, documented experience in leadership, governance, communication and teamwork. All incredibly valuable when you enter the workforce after graduation.
